Enel Green Power has commissioned the Malvezzi solar photovoltaic (PV) project in the northern Italian region of Emilia-Romagna. The project is located in Poggio Renatico, spans over 22 hectares, and is made up of over 30,000 bifacial solar modules divided into four contiguous sections. The Malvezzi solar farm has a capacity of 17 MW and is expected to generate around 25 GWh of electricity annually.

Enel Green Power crowdfunded the renewable energy project via an online initiative called Scelta Rinnovabile, or Renewable Choice, which was launched in October 2021. The crowdfunding campaign was first launched by the residents of Poggio Renatico, who enthusiastically supported the initiative. It was then extended nationwide for everyone to invest. Although Enel does not disclose the exact amount raised via the crowdfunding campaign, the company was able to secure widespread support from the local communities.

The inauguration of the Malvezzi solar farm by Enel is a significant milestone in the company's efforts to expand its renewable energy portfolio. Enel has long been committed to facilitating and investing in sustainable energy, making significant strides in the development and deployment of environmentally-friendly solutions. The company's choice to crowdfund this latest initiative demonstrates a commitment to empowering and involving local communities in sustainable development.
