Endesa has won a contract to build two solar photovoltaic (PV) self-generation systems and install them at Lagunillas and Linares campuses of the University of Jaen in Andalusia.
Endesa will install a 1,055 kW array at Lagunillas and a 234 kW system at the Linares campus, which will have an annual production of 2,141 MWh (1,762 MWh in Lagunillas and 380 MWh in Linares), avoiding the emission of 1,283 tons of CO2 per year, which is equivalent to the Plantation of 71,376 trees.
The two solar plants in Lagunillas and Linares will be operational in early 2020. Endesa will operate the photovoltaic installations under concession during the 15-year period of the contract and, after this period, the University will take over this solar plant until its useful life is completed (approximately ten years)
