EnBW has commissioned two subsidy-free solar farms, each capable of generating roughly 150 MW, in Alttrebbin and Gottesgabe, following the commissioning of Germany's largest open-field solar site to date, the 187 MW Weesow-Willmersdorf solar park in Brandenburg, Germany.
Together, the three projects comprise a solar cluster east of Berlin capable of generating roughly 500 MW, contributing significantly to Germany's renewable energy supply.
In the Alttrebbin and Gottesgabe projects, EnBW is deploying battery storage devices for the first time. They each have a 3.9 megawatt-hour capacity and are designed to work during the winter months when there is less daylight.
