Elecnor, through its subsidiary Elecnor Australia, has been awarded the turnkey contract (EPC) for the first phase of the New England Solar Farm hybrid solar project that provides for the start-up of 520 MWp of the total 900 MWp, in parallel the study of the initial 50 MWh of the battery energy storage system (BESS) of the potential 400 MWh will begin.
The solar complex will be located on the outskirts of the city of Uralla, in New South Wales (Australia). It is Australia's largest battery-powered hybrid solar power project, funded by UPC \ AC Australia, a joint venture between UPC Renewables and AC Energy, a subsidiary of Ayala Corporation in the Philippines. It will create up to 700 jobs at the peak of construction.
Elecnor assumes, within the EPC, all the engineering and construction of the solar park, as well as a 33/330 kilovolt (kV) substation.
Elecnor will also be in charge of operation and maintenance in the two years after commissioning. A sustainable project with a single-axis tracking technology that will allow solar panels to follow the path of the sun. The works of the first stage are expected to be completed in the next two years.
