ACEN Australia has commissioned the 400 MW Phase 1 of the 720 MW New England Solar Photovoltaic Farm located in New South Wales in Australia.
The 720 MW solar project is being developed in two stages and was approved by the NSW Government in 2020. The first phase of the project has been in construction since March 2021. It is one of Australia’s largest solar projects to be participating in the National Electricity Market (NEM), with the construction requiring the installation of close to a million solar panels.
The project is being developed near the town of Uralla, on the Northern Tablelands. It will have an integrated 400 MWh energy storage facility and the entire project is expected to produce around 1,800 GWh of electricity per year.
