Enel Green Power España (EGPE) has started the construction of the Veracruz, Puerta Palmas and El Doblón solar photovoltaic plants located between the town of Mérida and Almendralejo, in the province of Badajoz, Extremadura, Spain.
Enel Green Power will employ around 900 people from the local area for the construction of these plants.
The Veracruz, Puerta Palmas, and El Doblón plants will each have an installed capacity of around 50 MW and will entail a combined investment of around EUR96 million (US$117.3 million). The projects will use bifacial photovoltaic panels mounted on trackers, supplied by Soltec Power Holdings SA, which are more efficient as they generate power by exposing both sides of the cells to sunlight.
All three projects are expected to be operational by December of 2021.
