EDP Renewables North America has started the construction of its 240 MW Cattlemen I solar photovoltaic project located in Milam County in Texas, USA.

The Cattlemen I solar project has secured two long-term commercial agreements for the energy that will be produced from the plant: a 156 MW power purchase agreement (PPA) with Meta and a 60 MW PPA with biopharmaceutical company Bristol-Myers Squibb Co (BMS).

Once operational, the solar farm is expected to produce enough power for the consumption of up to 37,000 Texan homes.
