EDP Renewables has been granted permission to operate Spain's first-ever hybrid project. This project will combine 13.8 MWp (11.38 MWac) solar and 14.5 MW wind power generation at a single location in Ávila.
The wind-solar plant will produce over 58 GWh of electricity annually. This amount of electricity is sufficient to meet the needs of around 17,000 households in the region. Additionally, it will prevent the emission of more than 24,000 tons of CO2. The project features bifacial panels, which allow it to harness solar radiation from both sides.
The hybrid project also contributes to Spain's goal of achieving 42% of the country's energy mix from renewable sources by 2030.
