Hynamics, a 100% subsidiary of EDF Group specialising in hydrogen, and EDF Renewables UK have been shortlisted for the government’s Hydrogen Allocation Round 2 (HAR2) for phase two of their Tees Green Hydrogen project.
The Tees Green Hydrogen initiative aims to produce renewable hydrogen using electricity from low-carbon sources, including the nearby Teesside Offshore Wind Farm and a proposed solar farm near Redcar. The hydrogen generated will support local industries in their decarbonization efforts, contributing to a significant reduction in industrial emissions. Phase two plans involve developing a 100 MW electrolyser adjacent to the existing 8 MW facility from phase one. This scalable approach is designed to meet the growing hydrogen demand from regional industries. The project has garnered support from local stakeholders, including PD Ports, which intends to utilize the hydrogen for its port operations, and Northern Gas Networks, as part of its Hydrogen Village project in Redcar.
