DRI Energy has received a commercial operating licence from Romania’s Energy Regulatory Authority (ANRE) for its 126MWp Văcărești Solar Park in Dâmbovița County, Romania, enabling full commercial operations and strengthening its renewable energy portfolio in the country to 299MW.

Located in Dâmbovița County, the Văcărești solar park is projected to produce sufficient renewable electricity to power nearly 50,000 homes each year while reducing annual CO₂ emissions by about 48,600 tonnes. Over the past few years, the company has demonstrated its end-to-end development expertise by successfully financing, building, and commissioning four renewable energy assets in Romania through its integrated delivery approach and strong in-house engineering and project management capabilities. These projects include the Glodeni I solar park (53MWp / 49.05MW AC) and Glodeni II (60MWp / 49.9MW AC), which together represent one of Romania’s largest solar installations, the 60MW AC Ruginoasa onshore wind farm — the country’s first wind project developed in ten years — and the 126MWp Văcărești solar park, which further expands DRI’s operational renewable energy presence in Romania.

At the same time, DRI has proven its capability to develop financially viable renewable energy projects and secure backing from major international lenders. The Văcărești solar park received up to €60 million in non-recourse financing from UniCredit and Garanti BBVA, underscoring the credibility of the company’s portfolio and its strong relationships with global financial institutions. The project is further strengthened by long-term revenue certainty. Beginning in January 2027, half of the electricity generated by the Văcărești facility will be supplied to OMV Petrom under Romania’s largest physical solar Power Purchase Agreement (PPA), ensuring predictable income streams and enhancing the project’s long-term financial stability.
