Dominion Energy has started the shipping of the foundations and turbine components for the development of the 12 MW Coastal Virginia Offshore Wind (CVOW) project off the coast of Virginia Beach.
The developer has shipped the monopiles, transition pieces, and anode cages fabricated by EEW SPC. The components for the turbines were also delivered to the development site of the project.
CVOW project involves the construction of two units 6 MW SWT-6.0-154 wind turbines on a 2,135-acre (864-ha) site, about 27 miles (43.5 km) off the coast of Virginia Beach. Dominion Energy has launched the onshore construction in the summer of 2019. Ørsted is serving as the engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) contractor for the project while Siemens Gamesa Renewable Energy SA is supplying the wind turbines.
