The Danish Energy Appeals Board has ruled on the appeals against the construction permits for the two offshore wind farms developed together by TotalEnergies, European Energy and SONFOR in Jammerland Bugt and Lillebælt Syd.
The Energy Appeals Board has decided to reject the appeals, which means that the two projects can continue as planned. The two wind farms have been developed based on a thorough environmental and planning process and in close cooperation with authorities and stakeholders. The offshore wind farms are located outside Natura 2000 areas and outside international bird protection areas, and the environmental impact assessments have been approved by the Danish Energy Agency. The two offshore wind farms are part of the Danish open-door scheme and will together be able to supply green electricity equivalent to the annual electricity consumption of up to 400,000 Danish households.
The Jammerland Bugt Offshore Wind Farm received its construction permit in December 2024 and is scheduled to begin construction in 2027, with electricity production expected to commence by 2029. The project will have a total capacity of 240 MW, powered by 16 wind turbines—each standing 256 metres tall and rated at 15 MW. The wind farm is jointly owned by TotalEnergies, holding an 85% stake, and European Energy, which owns the remaining 15%.
The Lillebælt Syd Wind Farm received its establishment permit in November 2024 and is slated to begin construction in 2027, with operations expected to commence by 2029. The offshore wind project will have a total installed capacity of 165 MW, powered by 11 turbines, each standing 256 metres tall and rated at 15 MW. Ownership of the project is divided among TotalEnergies, holding a 72.25% stake, SONFOR with 15%, and European Energy with 12.75%.
