Decmil Group has been awarded AUD79 million (US$55.5 million) balance of plant (BOP) contract by Vestas for the Alinta Energy’s 214 MW Yandin wind farm in Western Australia.
Decmil will deliver the civil and electrical BOP solutions for the wind farm, including the design and construction of wind turbine bases, access tracks, site cabling, a switch room, and a substation. In February, Vestas has been selected to provide engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) work for the Yandin wind farm.
The 214 MW wind farm, to be located in Perth, consists of 51 units of 4.2-MW wind turbines. It is expected to generate energy for the consumption of up to 200,000 households. The project s expected to be operational by 2020 with Vestas taking over the operations and maintenance (O&M) of the plant.
