CS Energy has acquired the AU$1.3 billion (US$ 867 million) Lotus Creek Wind Farm from Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners (CIP) located in central Queensland approximately 20 km west of the town of St Lawrence.
This acquisition marks the Lotus Creek Wind Farm as the first fully publicly owned wind project to advance to construction under Queensland Energy. CIP will support the delivery of the 285 MW project, with Vestas and Zenviron appointed to oversee equipment supply and construction. The wind farm will consist of 46 turbines, generating enough clean energy to power approximately 150,000 homes. The project is funded by AU$ 624.3 million (US$ 416 million) from the Miles Government’s Renewable Energy and Hydrogen Jobs Fund, along with AU$ 300 million (US$ 200 million) from coal royalties announced in the 2023-24 Budget.
The wind farm will offset Up to 0.88 million tonnes of CO2e emissions each year and is scheduled to be operational by 2027, following its commissioning in the last quarter of 2026.
