Copec has signed a five-year power purchase agreement (PPA) with the 210 MW Cerro Dominador combined photovoltaic (PV) and concentrated solar power (CSP) plant in Atacama desert, Antofagasta.
The PPA will take effect in July 2020. The Cerro Dominado solar complex will be delivering energy to Copec's 72 service stations, electric vehicles (EV) charging network and eight factories across several regions in Chile.
The Cerro Dominador solar complex has been in commercial operation since February 2018. It features 100 MW PV components, 110 MW of CSP and 17.5 hours of storage in molten salts.
