Contact Energy has agreed to the sale of its liquefied petroleum gas business, Rockgas Ltd, to First State Investments portfolio company Gas Services New Zealand. The deal represents a total investment of NZ$260 million (US$177.35 million).
Contact will enter into an exclusive marketing agreement with First Gas associate Gas Services NZ Midco Ltd that will allow it to continue to offer LPG to mass market customers. Contact will provide support services to Rockgas for mass market customers for a yearly fee of NZ$2 million.
