Ventus Energy has filed its proposal for a wind project with a total capacity of 100 MW located in the northern end of the Kaimai Ranges, New Zealand. The proposed Kaimai Wind Farm will feature 24 turbines, 17 of which will be 207 metres high, with the blade tip standing upright, making them the tallest wind turbines in New Zealand. The remaining 7 units will be 180 meters in height.

The facility is planned to be installed over 1304 hectares of land, between the border of Rotokohu Road, Paeroa and SH26 Tirohia. A substation, two lattice transmission towers, two overhead power lines, and 18.9km of on-site roading - plus two on-site quarries is also part of the proposal.

Ventus Energy applied for resource consents earlier this year, which are still being considered by the Hauraki District Council and Waikato Regional Council as they are waiting for the feedback from people around the area. The company originally planned to install 26 turbines, but the number has been cut to 24 following consultation with affected parties.
