Jones Bros Civil Engineering UK has been contracted by Vattenfall to deliver roads and access tracks, electrical infrastructure, turbine foundations and other infrastructure as part of the construction of Clashindarroch II, its 14-turbine wind farm in Aberdeenshire, Scotland.
The company will upgrade 9 miles of existing and 5 miles of new access tracks, construct 14 turbine foundations and associated crane hardstanding, and undertake cabling work to connect the site to Cairnford substation. The project is expected to create more than 120 construction jobs, including at least two apprenticeships and one paid engineering work placement for a local college or university student; residents within a 50-mile radius who meet job requirements are guaranteed an interview. All workers will receive on-site vocational training and safety instruction. Vattenfall and Jones Bros have also planned supply chain events for local companies and will engage with the community through careers events and outreach programmes.
Clashindarroch II will comprise 14 wind turbines with a total capacity of 63 MW, generating enough renewable electricity to power approximately 61,566 UK households each year and offsetting an estimated 90,844 tonnes of CO₂ annually. Preparatory works began in autumn 2025, with main construction activities expected to start in spring 2026, and first power anticipated in summer 2027. Once operational, the project will deliver around £315,000 per year in community benefit funding to the local area, building on the success of the existing Clashindarroch Wind Farm, which has already contributed over £2 million to the community during its first decade of operation.
