Construction work of 120 MW Formosa I Phase II offshore wind project in Taiwanese waters has officially started and is expected to be completed by the end of the year.
Including the 8 MW first phase of the project, the total capacity of the Formosa I facility will be 128 MW. Phase II alone will consist of 20 units of Siemens Gamesa’s 6 MW turbines. It has a 20-year power purchase agreement (PPA) in place under Taiwan’s feed-in tariff (FiT) scheme.
The wind park is expected to generate enough power to meet the annual consumption of about 128,000 homes.
Apart from Swancor, the other investors in the project are Macquarie Group Ltd, Denmark’s Ørsted A/S and JERA Co, which is a joint venture between Tokyo Electric Power and Chubu Electric Power.
