Enel Chile, through its renewable energy subsidiary Enel Green Power Chile, has started construction on its new 204 MW Domeyko photovoltaic (PV) park, located in the Antofagasta Region. The solar plant is due to be completed by July 2021 and will involve a total investment of US$164 million.
The Domeyko Park will be spread across an area of approximately 700 hectares and will include the installation of 472,590 bifacial mono-crystalline PV modules, with cutting-edge technology that allows for greater efficiency in capturing solar radiation. Once operational, the plant will produce around 589 GWh, avoiding the emission of 439,000 tons of CO2 into the atmosphere.
The solar PV park is part of a portfolio of renewable projects that seeks to add 2 GW of installed capacity by 2022, half of which is already under construction.
