Constellation, an Exelon company, has started the construction of the 10 MWdc solar photovoltaic project located in Ocean City, Maryland, USA. The facility, consists of more than 30,000 photovoltaic panels, will provide power for 20% of Ocean City's key buildings, including its city hall, convention center, and water plant.
Upon completion, the solar project will satisfy a key commitment of Exelon’s 2016 merger with Pepco Holdings — adding 10 MW of solar generation in Delmarva Power’s Maryland service area. Eastman Chemical Company will also procure a portion of the solar project’s production to power its manufacturing facility in Chestertown, Maryland.
United Renewable Energy will serve as developer of the project that is expected to commence operation by the end of 2018.
