UK's large-scale contractor for solar projects, BSR EPC has been awarded an engineering, procurement, and construction contract to develop a 34 MW solar and storage facility in Katherine, Northern Territory.
The solar project is initially developed by a joint-venture of Epuron and Island Green Power. The project was recently acquired by Italian company, Eni.
The project involves the installation of 33.7 MWp of ground-mounted PV panels, as well as a battery storage system with a capacity of 5.7 MVA/2.9 MWh located near Katherine, in the Northern Territory of Australia. Once operational, the PV farm will avoid around 63,000 tonnes/year of CO2 equivalent emissions. It is expected to be operational by fourth quarter of 2019.
