The Brazilian Association of Photovoltaic Solar Energy (ABSolar) has confirmed that the country now has 17 GW of installed solar capacity in the distributed-generation sector, which includes solar photovoltaic (PV) plants smaller than 5 MW.
In 2022, the solar distributed power industry accounted for 7.27 GW, equivalent to 749,462 PV systems that are linked to the power grid. In 2023, 21,606 new PV farms with a capacity of less than 5 MW have been connected, totaling 192.36 MW.
Over the past three months, distributed-generation PV projects requested 32 GW of distribution network connection. Distributors received 460 thousand connection requests from projects under 75 kW and 26.5 thousand from projects under 75 kW and 5 MW.
