BP, EnBW pick marshalling port for 2.9 GW wind project in UK

Energie Baden-Wuerttemberg AG (EnBW) and UK energy giant BP Plc have chosen the Port of Leith as the marshalling port for their 2.9 MW Morven wind project in Scottish waters in the UK. Both the companies have together signed a reservation and cooperation agreement with the Forth Ports.

Forth Ports will invest about GBP50 million (US$59.8 million) to build a renewable energy center on a 175-acre property at the Port of Leith, as was previously reported. The plan intends to build a marine terminal large enough to accommodate the world’s largest offshore wind installation vessels. By the end of 2023, the facility is anticipated to be completed.

BP and EnBW will install the project in a site measuring around 860 sq km (332 square miles), referred to as E1, located about 60 km (37.3 miles) off the coast of Aberdeen.

Once completed the Morven wind farm will produce enough electricity to power more than three million homes.
