Ørsted has announced that the first phase of the 174MW Kennoxhead wind complex has started generating its first power. The wind complex is being developed in two phases in Scotland, UK.
The first phase of the project consists of 13 wind turbines with a total installed capacity of 62 MW located in South Lanarkshire south-east of Glasgow, Scotland. It has the capacity to generate enough energy to power over 38,000 Scottish homes. It will become Ørsted’s first operational wind farm in Scotland. The second phase of the wind complex will be adding up to 112 MW installed capacity, bringing the total capacity at the site to 174 MW.
Phase 1 of Kennoxhead is expected to reach commercial operation later in 2022.
