Brazil's National Development Bank (BNDES) has granted the BRL216.7 million (US$41.5 million) loan of Casa dos Ventos Energias Renováveis for the development of a 63 MW wind project that is part of the 534 MW Rio do Vento wind power complex in Rio Grande do Norte.
The Santa Martina 9 is being developed by Ventos de Santa Artur Energias Renovaveis SA, a special purpose entity of Casa dos Ventos Energias Renováveis for a total investment of BRL284.8 million (US$56.55 million).
Once operational, the project can generate enough energy to power up to 130,000 homes. The project is expected to commence operation by 2022.
