Avangrid, Inc. has announced its first renewable energy project, a 147.5 MW wind farm with 33 turbines in Pontotoc County, Oklahoma, USA.

Pontotoc Wind is anticipated to produce approximately 500,000 MWh of electricity annually, sufficient to power over 40,000 homes. The construction of the project is set to commence in 2024. Avangrid envisions the wind farm playing a significant role in the local community for over two decades, creating employment opportunities to support its operations and making other investments in the community. Moreover, Pontotoc Wind is expected to contribute around US$25 million in property taxes throughout its lifespan, benefiting local schools and other essential services. Avangrid currently stands as the third-largest renewable energy operator in the U.S., and upon the completion of this project, it will have an operational presence or assets spanning half the country.
