The Australian Capital Territory (ACT) has launched a tender for the development and installation of the 250 MW battery energy storage system (BESS) project located in Canberra.
Named as 'Big Canberra Battery', the project aims to increase network reliability by reducing pressure and congestion on the grid and help integrate the new renewable energy capacity that will become available. ACT has committed AUD100 million (US$72.26 million) in government funding to support the project.
