Alghanim International, Kuwait, announced that it has been awarded a contract by Kuwait’s Ministry of Electricity, Water, and Renewable Energy for the conversion of the second stage of the Sabiya Gas Turbines to a Combined Cycle Gas Turbine Power Plant (CCGT-2).
This project aims to increase the production capacity of the Sabiya Power Station by about 250 MW. It also strengthens the company’s expanding portfolio of energy projects across the region. One of its latest milestones is the Duqm Integrated Power and Water Project in Duqm, Oman, which was designed and built to provide the Duqm Refinery with reliable power and water using advanced combined-cycle and reverse-osmosis technologies. The facility consists of a 325 MW natural-gas-fired combined-cycle power plant integrated with a seawater reverse osmosis desalination system capable of producing 1,500 m³ of water per hour, along with all necessary supporting systems.
