Air Water, Chugoku starts operation of 75 MW biomass power plant project in Fukushima

Air Water & Energy Power Onahama Co Ltd, a joint-venture company of Air Water Inc. and Japanese utility Chugoku Electric Power Co Inc., has started the commercial operation of the 75 MW biomass power plant project in Fukushima Prefecture, Japan. 

The Onahama Biomass Power Plant has started its operation in the municipality of Iwaki. The plant operates under the Japanese feed-in-tariff (FiT) system and can produce up to 500 million kWh of energy per year using wood pellet and palm kernel shells (PKS) as feedstocks. 

Air Water & Energy Power Onahama Co Ltd. is a 51/49 joint venture of the two developers.
