Japanese renewable power and energy developer Renova Inc has started the construction of a 74.95 MW biomass power plant project in Shizuoka prefecture.
The Omaezakikou Biomass Power Station Project is being developed in the towns of Omaezaki and Makinohara. The plant will use wood pellets and palm kernel shells (PKS) as feedstocks for power generation.
In November 2019, Renova has reached a final investment decision for the project in partnership with Chubu Electric Power Co. Inc., Suzuyo Shoji Co. Ltd., and Mitsubishi Electric Credit Corp.
The project is expected to be operational by July 2023.
