AES Gener has submitted Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) for its proposed Parque Terra Energia Renovable Project, a renewable energy hybrid project with a combined capacity of 863 MW. The project includes 513 MW of solar PV park and 350 MW of a wind farm. Two energy storage banks with lithium-ion batteries are also planned as part of the scheme, which will be located in Taltal district in Chile's Antofagasta region.
The solar PV park will be equipped with more than one million bifacial solar panels. The total cost of the project is estimated to be US$750 million, with construction anticipated to start on-site in 2022.
The Parque Terra Energia Renovable Project is an important part of Chile's wider efforts to increase its renewable energy capacity while reducing greenhouse gas emissions.
