The Chilean renewables association Acera has published statistics indicating that renewable energy and storage projects under construction had reached a total of 6,950 MW in Chile by the end of March. Photovoltaic solar projects represent 68% of this capacity, with an additional 25% represented by wind projects.
As per the association, there are currently 231 MW of storage projects under construction, with another 68 MW approved and another 57 MW under review. Photovoltaic projects currently account for 2,930 MW when paired with storage. The report further reveals 4,748 MW of PV projects under construction, 19,832 MW of solar projects approved, and another 4,660 MW under review.
By the end of March, Chile had reached an installed renewable energy capacity of 14,305 MW, of which 8,220 MW came from PV installations. However, only 170 MW of solar power capacity is attributed to the 17,192 distributed generation systems installed under the country's net billing scheme. This shows that Chile is leading the way towards a cleaner energy future and highlights the feasibility of the move towards renewable and sustainable energy infrastructure.
