ABO Wind has commissioned a 50 MW stand-alone battery project in Kells, Northern Ireland for SUSI Partners.
The Kells facility is one of the world's fastest storage systems, with a response time of less than 150 ms and a capacity of 25 MWh. Transmission system operators EirGrid and SONI use the high-capacity battery to stabilize the Irish energy grid and balance wind farm feed-in.
Nidec ASI designed and manufactured the battery system.
