Wood to deliver design services for 100 MW floating wind project in UK

Wood has been awarded the Principal Designer and Pre-front-end engineering and design (Pre-FEED) scope for the 100 MW Salamander floating wind project located 35 km east of Peterhead in Scotland.

Wood will conduct and supervise a system-level pre-FEED to enable the planning, costing, and risk assessment of the FEED design process. Wood will manage the interfaces with the foundation designer and provide design services for the subsea and onshore cables, as well as the grid and onshore electrical connection, as part of the scope of work. The scope also includes working with OEMs of wind turbine generators, collecting site data, analyzing ports, transport, and installation, and coming up with an O&M strategy and certification.

The Salamander project is a joint venture between Simply Blue GroupSubsea 7, and Orsted.
