Portland General Electric offtakes power from 775 MW Onshore wind farm in USA

Portland General Electric Company (PGE) has announced plans to purchase 311 MW of energy from NextEra Energy Resources, LLC's 775 MW Clearwater wind project in Montana, USA.

The project is located approximately 65 miles northeast of the Colstrip Generating Station, the wind farm will span Rosebud, Garfield and Custer counties. The Onshore wind complex features 112 General Electric's wind turbines. It will generate enough energy to power up to 140,000 local homes per year.

Portland General Electric's (PGE) portion of the wind farm is anticipated to be commissioned by the end of 2023 and will supply additional power for about 125,000 residences. In the year 2021, Puget Sound Energy (PSE) had signed a 20 year PPA for 350 MW which is now under construction and is expected to be operational later this year.
