Neoen SA successfully commissioned its 55.8 MW Lumivaara wind farm in the municipality of Hyrynsalmi, Kainuu region, Finland.
The onshore wind project is co-owned by the local unit of German renewables cooperative Prokon. Neoen owns 80% of the project, while 20% is held by the local unit of Prokon. The construction of the project started two years ago and comprises nine V162-6.2 MW machines and nine turbines of N163/5.X machines in a 5.7 MW mode, equipped with the Nordex Advanced Anti-Icing System for the rotor blades.
Under a 10-year power purchase agreement (PPA), the facility will sell about 80% of its total output to Equinix Inc., a data center provider that will serve five of its sites in the Scandinavian nation. Equnix will also receive the associated guarantees of origin from the generator as part of the 2022 agreement.
