The State Assessment Referral Agency has awarded DP Energy the Development Approval for the 430 MW Callide onshore wind farm project in Queensland, Australia.
The wind farm will consist of up to 70 wind turbines, each with a capacity of 5 MW to 6 MW. The project is expected to generate enough electricity to power up to 130,000 average households. The upcoming project will be situated in the Calliope Range within the Banana Shire Council local government area, approximately 22 km north-north-east of Biloela and 75 km south-west of Gladstone.
The Callide Wind Farm will create direct employment opportunities during construction and operation and indirect opportunities through increased demand for local products, materials, and services. The project is expected to be operational in 2026.
