Snowy Hydro has signed a renewable Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) with TagEnergy. Under this agreement, Snowy Hydro will purchase 40% of the energy and green certificates (LGCs) produced by the 756 MW first stage of the 1.3 GW Golden Plains Wind Farm project located in Rokewood near Geelong, Victoria, Australia.
The first phase of the wind farm features 122 turbines. Its development officially began in April 2023 and is expected to start producing renewable energy in Q1 of 2025. Upon completion, the project is estimated to offset an average of 770,000 tonnes of CO2-e emissions per year, or more than 23 million tonnes of CO2-e over its 30-year lifetime.
The Golden Plains wind project consists of up to 215, 3-5 MW wind turbines that generate over 4,200 GWh per annum – providing sustainable energy for more than 910,000 homes.
Neoen has expanded its Western Downs Battery Project which is currently under construction to a total installed capacity of 270 MW / 540 MWh.
