BP has advanced its plans to develop 10 GW of wind and solar generation project to power an export-scale green hydrogen and ammonia production facility in Daisy Downs, a 22,568 ha cropping property in Western Australia. BP plans to target domestic and international markets in the 2030s.
BP has revealed that the initial phase of the project seeks to develop approximately 3 GW of wind and solar energy, with the green hydrogen and ammonia products expected to be exported from the state government's planned Oakajee Strategic Industrial Area. The company has also received 220 ha of land from the state government alongside the proposed port at Oakajee, as part of the government's efforts to fast-track the development of green hydrogen projects in the region.
Moreover, BP is in talks with mid-west landowners to access an additional 73,000 ha to expand its renewable generation infrastructure further.
