Construction started for 605 MW/1410 MWh battery complex in Inner Mongolia

Inner Mongolia Energy Group Co., Ltd. has begun construction work on the 605 MW/1410 MWh Dengkou Renewable Energy Storage Project in Wenduermaodao Gacha, Sajintaohai Sumu, Dengkou County, Bayannur City, Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region.

This project, with a total investment of CNY 2.137 billion (US$ 301 million), involves the construction of a 605 MW/1410 MWh energy storage station, utilizing a combined system of vanadium flow battery and electrochemical storage. This will be the largest single-capacity energy storage station under construction in China. It will play a crucial role in addressing renewable energy consumption, enhancing the flexibility of the power system, and improving the safety and stability of the grid.

The Project is being built by local contractor Mengneng Group and developed by the Inner Mongolia Energy Group, an investment company that specializes in electrical projects. Work on this project is due to begin in September 2024. When complete, it will supply largely green energy to the Beijing–Tianjin–Hebei cluster.
