Yunneng Wind Power Co Ltd. has said that all 80 wind turbine foundations, including both the monopiles and transition pieces, have been installed at the 640-MW Yunlin wind farm located in the Taiwan Strait, between 8 and 17 km off the west coast of Taiwan.
The construction of the wind farm has completed the installation of all 80 underwater foundations, 68 wind turbines (with 52 already connected to Taipower's grid), 56 array submarine cables, and all 12 output submarine cables. Spanning 82 sq km, the wind farm's 640 MW capacity will supply clean energy to over 600,000 households. Power is delivered to Taiwan Electric Power Company through two onshore substations under two 20-year power purchase agreements.
The project is owned by Germany’s Skyborn Renewables, France’s TotalEnergies, Thai power producer EGCO Group and Japanese trader Sojitz. With 68 wind turbine generators installed, 52 of them already in operation, the project now enters into the final installation phase and remains on track for full completion by the end of 2024.
