CSBC-DEME Wind Engineering has successfully installed the first offshore substation (OSS) topside at the 1044 MW Hai Long Offshore Wind Farm located in Taiwan Strait, Taiwan.
The OSS topside, 52 m in length, 38 m in width, and 32 m in height, and weighing more than 2800 tonnes sits on a four-legged steel jacket foundation.
The US$6 billion wind project is a Joint Venture between Northland Power, Yushan Energy and Mitsui & Co., Ltd and is expected to become operational by 2026. The wind complex consists of 14-222 DD offshore wind turbines installed 50 km off the coast of Changhua County. Each turbine has a capacity of 14 MW and features a rotor diameter of 222 m using a 108 m long Siemens Gamesa Integral Blades. The project is developed in two phases Hai Long 2A (294 MW) and Hai Long 2B and 3 (728 MW).
Ørsted has appointed ABL to provide marine warranty survey services (MWS) for the 920 MW Greater Changhua 2b and 4 offshore wind farms in Taiwan.
