Gujarat Urja Vikas Nigam Ltd (GUVNL) is a state-owned electricity company incorporated in December 2004 under the Government of Gujarat, with its registered office in Vadodara. Post-2005, GUVNL took over the assets, liabilities, and residual functions of the old Gujarat Electricity Board (GEB) as part of the reforms under the Gujarat Electricity Industry (Re-organisation & Regulation) Act, 2003. It functions as the holding company for its six wholly-owned subsidiaries covering generation (GSECL), transmission (GETCO), and electricity distribution (through UGVCL, DGVCL, MGVCL and PGVCL) across different geographic regions of Gujarat. GUVNL is responsible for bulk electricity purchase and sale, coordinating and overseeing its subsidiaries' operations, ensuring reliable power supply, managing regulatory compliance, and driving the state’s push toward renewable energy and sustainability.
