Fortis Renewable Energy BV — often referred to simply as Fortis Energy — is an international renewable energy investor and developer focused on accelerating the clean energy transition across Europe, particularly in Southeast Europe (the Balkans), the Netherlands, and Türkiye. Fortis builds and operates renewable energy projects spanning solar photovoltaic (PV), wind, biogas, and energy storage systems. It manages the entire project lifecycle — from permitting and licensing through engineering, procurement, construction and commissioning — using in-house teams and resources, and also provides operations and maintenance solutions through its Fortis O&M brand.
The company’s existing portfolio generates hundreds of gigawatt-hours of clean electricity annually from solar power plants and biogas facilities, with hundreds of megawatts of installed capacity and a development pipeline in the gigawatt range across multiple countries. Fortis also operates electric vehicle charging stations under the “Fortis Charge” brand and is expanding into hybrid energy projects that integrate renewables with battery storage to deliver reliable, low-carbon power.
Headquartered in Amsterdam with regional offices in places like Istanbul and Belgrade, Fortis aims to be a major independent power producer (IPP) across European markets, driving sustainable growth and contributing to regional decarbonization goals.
