Wpd AG has commissioned its 35.6 MW Auzay wind farm located in the municipality of Auchay sur Vendee, France.
The project has produced its first power into the power grid and is expected to meet 46% of the electricity consumption of the community of municipalities of the Pays de Fontenay-Vendee. It consists of 9 units of Enercon E138 wind turbines and expected to generate an annual output of 95 GWh, enough to supply around 34,200 homes, and also offsets up to 8,000 tonnes of carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions.
WPD has secured the project at the end of 2017 in the first round of auction tenders in France. The competitive bids resulted in an average price of EUR65.4 (US$79.72) per MWh for 20 years.
