Voltalia has begun construction on the 50.6 MW Garrido solar photovoltaic (PV) complex in Portugal, which consists of five solar PV projects.
The Garrido complex includes a 23.8 MW solar farm in Alcochete, an 11.8 MW solar farm in Pinhal Novo, an 11.4 MW solar farm in Antuzede, a 2.4 MW solar farm in Vale Serrao, and a 1.2 MW solar farm in Oliveira de Frades.
The electricity will be sold through long-term contracts with the companies who will be consuming it, thereby reducing their energy use, and preventing the annual emission of more than 46,685 tons of CO2.
Voltalia now has 71 MW of capacity in operation or under construction in Portugal.
NextChem has been awarded a Pre-FEED engineering services contract for the development of the 500 MW MadoquaPower2X green hydrogen plant located in Sines, Portugal.
