Atlantic Shores Offshore Wind (Atlantic Shores), a 50:50 partnership between Shell New Energies and EDF Renewables has selected Vestas as the preferred supplier for its 1.5 GW offshore wind project in New Jersey, USA.
The project will be developed over an area of 54,175 ac (219.2 km2) and has the capacity to generate enough clean energy to power more than 700,000 U.S. homes. The project consists of 105-136 wind turbines generators, 5 offshore substations, a permanent meteorological tower and 3 temporary meteorological and oceanographic buoys.
Under the agreement Vestas will provide its V236-15.0 MW offshore wind turbines, with installation expected in 2027.
