Vattenfall has been awarded planning permission from the Swedish government for the construction of the 604 MW Kriegers Flak Offshore Wind Farm project located about 15km east of the Danish coast in the southern part of the Baltic Sea, close to the boundaries of Sweden, Germany, and Denmark.
The permit requires that the work be completed within a 10-year period and that the cables be placed on Sweden's continental shelf within its maritime territory and economic zone. Vattenfall has stated that it plans to make a final investment decision on the 640 MW project in 2025. However, the permit is subject to several conditions that regulate the construction process and ensure the protection of the environment and safety.
Additionally, for the Kriegers Flak wind farm, other permits, including the Swedish Economic Zone Act permit and the Land and Environment Court's Environmental Code permit for water works, and Natura 2000 permit, is also necessary for construction and operation.
