Vattenfall applied for extension of operational lease for the 93.2 MW European Offshore Wind Deployment Centre (EOWDC) by 3 additional years. The extension does not include the time to decommission the project. The additional 3 years will bring the operational lease in line with the design-life of wind farm components.
The project’s 11 wind turbines are deemed the world’s most powerful. It can supply 70% of Aberdeen’s household demand on electricity.
The project is located in Aberdeen Bay. The EOWDC is also known as Aberdeen offshore wind farm. It started its operations in 2018.
